Championing Mastery and Skills 榴莲视频 Tagisan ng Talino

By: Blessy Sibalon , May 25, 2026

The halls at the campus came alive with an all-out battle of skills and academic excellence for the annual STI Tagisan ng Talino (TNT)held across two venues—STI College Ortigas-Cainta on May 11-13, 2026, and Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City on May 14, 2026.

With participants coming from STI campuses nationwide, Tagisan ng Talino highlighted the values of preparation, teamwork, and confidence. While points, rankings, and elimination rounds added pressure, students maintained an atmosphere of sportsmanship pushing boundaries for strengths and creativity.

A Test of Brains and Wits

Codefest kicked off the TNT and began a 36-hour hackathon starting on May 11, 2026. Working against the clock, teams collaborated intensively to turn ideas into working solutions for national disasters.

Despite its timeframe, participants were able to design and develop mobile applications that support disaster resilience.

Featuring real-time alerts, community incident reporting, evacuation and resource mapping, or post-disaster needs assessment, their work showed how technology can help communities stay informed, respond faster, and recover more effectively during emergencies.

Bayanihan, the application that wowed the judges, was developed by STI College Rosario and took home the Championship Award. Created by a team of BS Information Technology students alongside Grade 12 student of IT in Mobile App and Web Development, the app stood out for its innovative Bluetooth messaging feature.

Designed to address communication challenges during disasters, it allows users to connect and send messages for help within a 10-meter Bluetooth radius—even without internet access.

Angelo Jhon Alegre, the team’s backend developer, expressed his gratitude for the support they received throughout their journey to the national level.

“The support of our school was a huge factor in this achievement. They didn’t just provide us the training ground, but they also guided us and believed in our potential, which helped us prepare confidently for the Nationals.”

Placing 1st Runner-Up, STI West Negros University with their app WeUnite, which demonstrated a strong commitment to enabling immediate disaster response. Meanwhile, STI College Malolos secured the 2nd Runner-Up with their app AgapayPH, highlighting its focus on providing timely assistance to community residents.

Delighting everyone with their craftmanship and culinary creations, the hospitality students truly showcased their expertise and the dishes they brought to the table.

Chef Xpress finalists stepped up and showcased their culinary talent by preparing a full three-course meal for two within a limited two-hour timeframe. Each dish highlighted both creativity and technique, featuring carefully selected main ingredients —avocado for the appetizer, beef top round for the main course, and dark chocolate for dessert.

Meanwhile, Worth the Whisk finalists brought their creations to life through storytelling, adding intricate sweet flower details to celebrate 40 years of love in their theme, “Ruby Floral Symphony”

Announced as this year’s National Champion of Worth the Whisk, 3rd Year BS in Culinary Management student Wilgen Marie Remo described her journey as both challenging and rewarding.

“Participating in school activities like Tagisan ng Talino helped me bring out everything I learned in our lectures and laboratory classes,” Remo shared. “It taught me how to think on my feet and adapt quickly. It showed me that culinary arts are not just about following recipes perfectly, but about solving problems while staying calm under pressure.”

Lessons from Classroom and Beyond

The Essay Does It! and Stand Up and Deliver competitions invite students to reflect, express, and speak with purpose as they take on themes rooted in growth and self-awareness.

Aspiring writers in Essay Does It! were challenged to put their experiences into words with the question, “How does knowing who you want to become influence the decisions you make today?”

Meanwhile, Stand Up and Deliver puts students on stage to think out loud and speak with conviction, prompting them to reflect on the question, “On the journey toward your goals, when should a student slow down, and when should they speed up?”

Together, these competitions go beyond performance, encouraging students to pause, evaluate, and communicate their aspirations with insight and authenticity.

Hailed as the Stand Up and Deliver Champion, Juliana Pamela Esguerra, 3rd Year BS in Tourism Management student, shared that her victory this year marks a meaningful redirection in her journey.

During last year’s Tagisan ng Talino, Esguerra competed in Travelogue competition, where she reached the national level but did not secure a win. While the experience was initially disheartening, it ultimately became a turning point. Being named this year’s National Champion of Stand Up and Deliver taught her the value of persistence and trusting her path.

“Back then, I thought losing was a rejection, but now I understand that it was a redirection that helped me realize where I truly belong,” Esguerra shared.

Showcasing their tour guiding expertisein TravelogueTourism students transported the judges and their audiences to Zambales, presenting the scenic beauty and attractions of Mt. Pinatubo. Their performance highlighted not only their knowledge of the destination but also their storytelling and presentation skills, bringing the experience to life.

Meanwhile, students put their knowledge to the test in Think Quest, a team quiz bee competition that challenged participants to analyze and respond to questions across a wide range of subjects, demonstrating both their academic depth and teamwork under pressure.
